We had an absolutely amazing trip yesterday to Philadelphia. Students completed research on Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, George Washington's home and the National Constitution Center. They were also given many compliments for their behavior but also for their knowledge of the American Revolution and the founding of our country! I will let you know when we upload more pics!

Today we started our American Revolution Theme. Projects were handed out and students will have time in each class to work on them. Make sure to get a book at the local library to help you with your research! We will be taking trips to Philadelphia and to the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington D.C. as part of our theme. We will see where our country and government were created in Independence Hall (pictured left) and our government currently working today at the Capitol. (below) Tour of U.S. Capitol We will be going on our final field trip on Tuesday, June 5th. We always end the 5th grade year with a tour of the National Mall. We start the day at the Lincoln Memorial and end at the U.S. Capitol Building. Along the way we stop at the Smithonsian Museum of American History where we learn about all the different eras of American history in one place! There are many amazing artifacts there including George Washington's uniform, the desk that Robert E. Lee signed signed the surrender papers at the end of the Civil War, and the last Huey Helicopter flown in Vietnam. |
